Domain Hosting, VT and elsewhere

VT offers Filebox which is good that it allows full freedom.

But I feel has some drawbacks:
  1. 30MB data storage limit
  2. Still has the "filebox" thing in the URL
  3. Does not allow upload by FTP (which is what Apple iWeb has an option for)
MobileMe is expensive ($99 / year ) - so is out of the question.

GoDaddy is cheaper ($11 / year for a .com account) - but we are graduate students and are cheaper still :P.

So ultimately Google Sites is a good bet. It also has its own WYSIWYG editor - though the final product is never as cool as something created by the more professional editors like:
  • Apple iWeb
  • Microsoft Frontpage
  • Adobe Dreamweaver
NOTE - each of these should allow upload through FTP / some other easy protocol

e.g. iWeb publishing through FTP easily explained in:
