Central Dogma explained (spaceship isshtyle)
Main principle of central dogma:
DNA -> RNA -> Protein
- DNA stores information e.g. codes for sequence of amino acids to form specific proteins
- TRANSCRIPTION: writing by copying from one medium to another, as a typewritten version of dictation.
Here copied from DNA to RNA (messenger RNA)
Occurs inside nucleus - mRNA moves out to cytoplasm and attaches to Ribosome
- Then mRNA TRANSLATED into Proteins
Other processes
REPLICATION: DNA -> DNA
SPLICING: RNA -> RNA
